Past Projects

Constructive have been working in the Construction industry providing Material Testing, Site Investigation and Structural Investigation services for over 25 years and we have a huge amount of experience in various services at many different site locations.

Case Study - Geo-Environmental Site Investigation, Chichester

Development of eight detached two-storey residential dwellings on a site formerly utilised for the repair and storage of vehicles. Initially, a Phase 1: Environmental Risk Assessment (deskstudy) was completed to enable the development of a Preliminary Conceptual Site Model (CSM) and risk assessment. Following the identification of plausible source-pathway-receptor pollutant linkages a Phase 2: Site Investigation was deemed necessary.

The Site Investigation comprised four dynamic sample boreholes, nine trial pits, and subsequent gas and groundwater monitoring. There were a number of exceedances of applicable screening criteria for PAH determinands within Made Ground soils, and two minor exceedances within groundwater samples. Further to an update of the CSM, remedial actions were proposed and subsequently agreed with the Local Authority, and comprised removal of existing Made Ground soils, and incorporation of a capping layer inclusive of geotextile membrane and imported certified soils. Following implementation, remedial actions were validated through site visits and liaison with the site manager.

Case Study – Remediation Works, Shoreham

The site was historically a petrol filling station, which was being redeveloped into 16 residential dwellings with private rear gardens. CE completed a site investigation comprising of three cable percussive boreholes up to 20mbgl and installed with monitoring wells in order to assess the condition of the underlying groundwater. During the demolition works unexpected underground tanks were encountered and CE was able to mobilise quickly to sample and test the soils within the excavations in line with our remedial strategy. Validation works included the emplacement of suitable topsoil within the new residential gardens. CE held liaison in respect of the ongoing validation works with the Environment Agency, Local Planning Authority, Environmental Health Department, and the National House Building Council.
